Most annoying printer ever; lousy scanner too

By far the most annoying printer I have ever had.

Try canceling a simple print job! I actually had to breakout the manual and read a 4 step process to accomplish that mission!

Need to print 3"x4" labels or small deposit slips? No problem! EXCEPT for the "program" gets upset when you print something smaller than a regular size sheet of paper and BEEPS LOUD repeatedly afterwards. Now I'm sure that I could spend all day pretending that I'm a computer technician and resolve this problem, but I'm not.

The Scanning quality to PDF file is terrible. Apparently I now need to go out and buy better software for that mission, I can hardly wait!

The previous HP Laser Jet 1200 that I had did everything fine, what a mistake I made for upgrading and I didn't even need to! It's been nothing but a big disappointment since; and good luck trying to get a hold of Canon's lousy customer service, if you can ever find them, you'll be on hold forever.





As advertised
Before buying this printer, I did much the research looking of the reviews and the preceding comps. I have to have the unit maintaining for approximately three weeks. Up to now, that functioned flawlessly. Believe what you read inside the reviews. It is difficult to see the messages which show in the sight since it is not enlightened with back-light. Then if you want to employ the unit like printer of network, you must install a static IP address for him in your knife and the NIC of the printer. Other that these two minor troubles, this printer large functioned. It copies, of the faxes, copies, and it is as quickly as you would need him for a printer of registered office.


bad machine
i bought this machine and i returned it. the machine froze on me quite a few times. Also many times when trying to print through the network it was offline and only printed after i restarted the machine or after a while it just decided to print. i would suggest the hp 3055 i've had it for a while very good machine.


This machine is awesome, unless you want to scan over network
When I saw the words "network Ready" I thought i hit the jackpot. That was until I read the manual and it said you can only scan with the USB port, not on the network connection. My piece of junk Brother mfc3820cn (the multi function machine I was replacing) was only $150 and that let me scan over the network.
OK, so the only other drawback I can find it wont duplex scan. Other than those two things this machine is awesome. fast, quiet, 10 seconds to first print, energy save, duplex printing, auto-doc feeder, laser, all for $250 you cant beat it, I checked.


great price for an easy to use multifunction printer
This fax, printer, copier, scanner is great. It is fast, easy to use, the printing quality is good. Worth every penny!


Dont Buy if you have Mac Leopard OS
With returned this article because the Gun does not support yet new OS of imper. Though information on the machine declares that that will function, after reception of the article (and of him not functioning as printer) I called gun and they said that they did not make fix any date for an update. With bought the brother MFC-7820 who works large.


Beware Mac Users!!!
I was thus enthralling to obtain this printer for my registered office; I like my jet of ink of Gun and AM violently faithful to the mark of Gun. But alas, after fight during more than one hour to obtain the impers on the network of speaking the printer (and me am a sysadmin!), treating the obsolete drivers on the Web site of the Guns (which employs from now on the sitx?), I returned the printer and bought a brother MFC-8860DN for $100 more. Which difference. The brother installed in a flash, and can sweep above the network with the PC and the imper (something that the Gun cannot make with impers, and me believe cannot make with GCV either), and boats with the ROCK of imper and the software of print-center. The price of the Guns makes it so attractive, but if you look at to exploit the possibilities of network (particularly with a imper), you are not on line well better with a brother.


Probably OK if you only use PC's
I bought this printer like replacement for my printer of office, which had died. I have a mixture of the systems of PC and imper. In spite of the fact that to declare them technical summaries that the printer is "imper compatible", this is only partially true - the functions of sweeping function only with GCV. I returned this printer and bought the printer of Gun 4690 in the place. This printer, which is more expensive, has a device which will sweep with an ordering of USB and/or an email a sweeping. This means that the compatibility of imper is not an exit. To be honest, it is more one exit of the imper which anything else - it is difficult to expect that the companies support a product which has only 5% of the market. However, the review should be clearer while stating in advance what is not compatible or functioning in this environment.


no problems, it all works
place the mf4270 to the top of the USB on a machine of XP to obtain all the functions of sweeping, took approximately 15 minutes when the software is very basic but it all work sweeping, sending and printing by fax are all very, very fast copy is crunching machine is really quiet well in all work of automatic radiogoniometer of modes, wish right it had automatic duplex sweeping to match the impression of duplex (2 trimmed original with the copy trimmed by 2). the machine will sleep in a few minutes but immediately awakes the excellent machine, particularly for the price of the Amazon of the prices on the 104 that the toner is $12 cheaper than the staples.


Good quality, no frills, multi function printer
It is a good printer/scanner black and white. Stripped I employed the function of fax still. This machine of gimlet of not is a good purchase for those which want a printer managed in network of good quality.
