Reviews:

starsCaveat Emptor Amazon
It is not that I will not be satisfied with the 8000fd, they are sales of export of the Amazon which I informed you approximately. Initially, the Amazon promised free forwarding. Then it recanted and gave the responsability of almost $50 to be transported to Spain. No surprise, but please not be before honest and high. In the second place, the Amazon promised a free chart of memory of xd of Fujifilm 2GB with the purchase, just connect the promotional code, as the Amazon calls it. I. Twice and with the same result. Your code does not function. Well, they is the same rotten uses of the Amazon of a number. And in conclusion, there is the deposit of the taxes of the habit. This appears a pretence. Since the Amazon not purchasing of credit rating with the unutilised fees charged, and normally, according to my friends of expat living here, it has typically none of it there. That means that others almost $60 goes to the Amazon in a hidden deposit account. Intend to never speak about the fraud, the Amazon? I was obligatory to buy only because I wanted this camera and could not obtain it here. Sales of export of the Amazon should be civily continued for the pretence of deposit of taxes. How many million the Amazon empoche it each year of this?

starsGreat pics
It is a large camera. I admit that it must take much inside initially. The book is thick and at the not very clear points, but with patience it is feasible. I strugling always with apparently the hundreds of various combinations of adjustment, but it will come with time and the practice. The images prove well, and is it what I counted. I am happy I obtained this camera.

starsDisappointing pictures
I had had a camera of Fuji a certain hour ago and was very satisfied. When I received this one I had hopes raised to disappoint only very in the results. I tested many various arrangements but always the same thing in addition to results of color. Each thing that I tested could not eliminate unobtrusive and the tacherée color. Perhaps it was a defect in this particular camera and others are very well. But I returned it and bought different make.

starsfine camera
It is an excellent camera. I to have S5100 and wanted to improve with the device of the buzz 18x and the antishake.

starsPoor, very poor....
I ready through a number of reviews (a LOT of them), and could live with the limitations described there (mostly about the lens at extreme zooms). And I did not want to spend $70 for a replacement Li-ion battery in case I needed one, so the Fuji looked like a good option.

First impressions weren't bad : good menu system (though I never really understood why the F-button functions and the Menu were so confusing). The lens did extend longer than expected, but I could live with that.

But when taking the first pictures, I was truly disappointed. The images looked grainy, unsharp, undetailed. Like a camera from several generations ago. I then started experimenting with all the settings, abandoned the AUTO, tried every imaginable manual/high-quality/Low ISO setting, but I felt the results remained poor. I then compared with my little Canon Ixus 55, compared identical pictures... and found the Canon - smaller, lower Pixels,..) came out WAY better, WAY sharper, WAY more natural.
And that was just on low ISO. Going to ISO 200 and above? Forget it, quality was so terrible, you thought you'd be looking at one of those VGA cameras they give away as business gifts.

I tried and tried again to make the pics look good - in bright light, customized settings, everything... but again, disapointment....

Oh, I also noticed that at full lenght zoom, the camera refused to focus on objects 2-3 meter further. And there is an unacceptable amount of purple fringing.

So, after 2 weeks, I sold it, and bought the Panasonic FZ 18. And, though that too isn't perfect, at least that's acceptable, qualitywise!

starsCrystal clear shots w/ spectacular range

starsCamera was sent back to Beach Camera,, defected.
The camera was sent back to Back camera, we had X-mas without a camera, it was defected when I received it.

starsFinePix S8000fd is an Excellent SLR Like Camera
When I sought a numerical camera of replacement which was... stolen I found much by chance which resounded nice. I made narrow my choices to the bottom with three cameras of which one was FujiFilm. It wanted a camera as my old which was not too small, that would adapt my hand and would be easy to hold me. I wanted a great buzz optical and that narrowed the cameras to the bottom Juste with some. I liked the glances of FujiFilm, however, some of the reviews indicated that it was difficult to slip the chart of standard deviation inside because it entered under an angle. Moreover, several reviews spoke about one of the doors being flimpsy. At all events, I finally could not decide to me, thus I went to the local stores of camera and finally found those which I liked in stock. FujiFilm gained out of the heads downwards. There is nothing to astound soon about this camera and it is well built. The only thing that I see that the others must have spoken is the rubber cover which adapts above the openings of power/usb. My other camera which was stolen had a cover and me out of rubber did not refine that to be any problem and after several years of use never had a problem. The macro one for close-ups is impressive and the buzz 18x is as well. In conclusion, by reviews and to really see the various cameras with the stores of photograph I decided on FujiFilm FinePix s8000fd. It adapts really my hand perfectly and feels like a camera and not a toy. Noneasy to drop itself as much smaller would be. The button of possession and obturator of hand are in perfect position. Do not await another minute..this is impressive.

starsAwesome Camera!
Populate which does not like this camera are or 1) seeking the devices of a high end SLR, or 2) cannot employ it and are too lazy for reading instructions. It is an impressive camera. The images, in an arrangement the macro one and of buzz, are pointed and clear and the life of battery is exceptional. The camera is light and easy to employ. I will admit that if you are too lazy to learn how to use the camera you can have out of the hearth or of the dark images but in the past I appeared it outside, there were not absolutely any problem.

starsSweet Camera
I absolutely LOVE the 18x zoom feature of this camera. I took a "photography spree" at the zoo with my friends to see what my camera can do. Let's just say that everyone gave up taking pictures because they couldn't zoom in as much as I could and take as good of quality pictures as I could. My friend's dad saw the pictures and videos I had taken at the zoo, and he ordered the camera RIGHT ON THE SPOT. THAT is how great this camera is. And the supermacro feature and videos are great quality. I also love how I can take pictures in a moving car (while zoomed in as much as I want) and still have the pictures look as if I was standing still the whole time. You will not regret A THING about this camera. As a photographer, I couldn't ask for more. Thank you FujiFilm!

starsYou have to know what you're doing to enjoy this great camera!
This is absolutely a fantastic camera. It has so many functions and features that it can be difficult at first to enjoy clear pictures, but the zoom and night mode make this well worth the price. Easy to hold and great for videos this camera makes the holidays last forever. Be sure to read up on the manual to take advantage and aim the Infa-Red AutoFocus at the people not the background!!!! Couldn't be happier !

starsThe Worst Customer Service!!!
The camera is very well as a long time as nothing turns badly. Fuji has the worst service with the customers which I never have the delt with. They pass to you from a person to the other and make very that they cannot help you. Be prepared to treat the worst service with the customers in the businesses. I really hope that this helps you.

starsIt's what I expected
I have had the camera for a month now and it has exactly met my expectations. The zoom is great and I have found it easy to adjust the settings for the various scenes that I shot.

starsFujifilm wins!
I was hesitant to buy Fujifilm S8000fd because there were some criticisms which found problems with the images that it produced. I considered other cameras in the same kinds and discovered there were some criticisms which all were not which happy with these one or the other. It was clear with me that the images that the projectile with Fujifilm S8000fd were at least equal to those made by its competitors and it had much more devices and the capacity. I think that the people which censures the quality of the photographs taken with Fujifilm S8000fd are one or the other incompetents of reading the instruction manual or are thus "picky" about their images as for are nevrotic. I had my Fuji S8000fd during approximately a month and finds the photographs which I take am simply tall. I am not a professional photographer, but I was an amateur of advance-competences during decades. It is my ahead numerical camera of Fuji and it is best group. I sought my head with far before buying S8000fd and concluded that it was the best in its class and scale of price. There are really only three cameras currently occupying this group of "hybride-SLR" -- Fujifilm S8000 naturally, Olympe SP-560 UZ and Panasonic FZ18. For my money -- Fujifilm S8000fd gains. Moreover, the price on this camera on Amazon.com is almost fifty dollars cheaper than it was when I bought mine only a few weeks ago.

starsgreat camera
I am just an amateur photographer and I love this camera. I bought it to replace my old Fuji that was having some problems after being dropped a couple of times, and because of my first grandchild being born. I love the image stabilization, the 18X zoom and all the other features that I have figured out so far. Takes great clear pics. Would definately recommend this camera.

starsBelow i expected
I always obtained S8000fd one week there is and learnig of I all the devices. The darkroom very comfortable, strong and is well designed, but im disappointed with the quality of image. Even with the update of firmare (1.0.0 to 1.0.1) the images are below other cheap cameras: - the "automatic" mode functions very bad with me, it produces dark images of a little, and even in very good states of light that the "automobile" place the too high OIN. In photographs of interior, even with the activated flash, generally the PEAKS are taken in OIN 800, and its images very common of catch to OIN 200 during the light of day. Perhaps its step a problem if you will see the photographs only in your monitor or with small sizes, but if you intend to print in big faces, the qualit will not be good; - sharppen is enough, but could be better. An overall picture of the photographs to normal in the turbid monitor, images of exposures; - the development automatic is good, but not to improve, its communal ground to see the PEAKS except focal distance perfect; Stripe in bottom, I recommend a "trial order", only in this way will see you whether this camera will be good for you. His truth that S8000 has many devices of good, not a bad cam, but like I said, I expected a better quality of image, and im steps the affraid for saying that my old man Sony P200 produces better, more sharppen and accurated photographs that the catch of S8000fd. a glance at Fuji S700 also, its the cheaper and me think produces photographs much better than S8000fd picosecond: Bad sorry English

starsI way overpaid for this!
I bought this overpaid him elsewhere and completely. I bought this camera to replace my 3800 of FinePix (which I AI COMPLETELY AIME, but carried outside), and I must say that I am disapointed very with the quality of photograph in this nine. I am right a mom of stay at the house of two boys thought that I bought a camera equal to my old -- to capture all my important stages boys and moments of family. My preceding camera had only the megapixel 3.2 and the optical 6x possibilities and the quality of photograph were so better... how fact which are included/understood? Of the pro side for this camera, the macro function (high narrow) is astonishing -- these images come out of extremely high quality and it video car direct (to your chart of mem fills) instead of in 60 intervals of seconds. There is also black and white, and of sepia -- the kinds of all of devices of neato, but when she goes down to her, it is not a camera of point and growth. I wish that they add just all these new devices ordered to the 3800 -- I did not look at to draw the close-ups fartsy artsy the flowers, or allots videos of profit, images just really large, clear and impressive of my children a family with easy to use the camera (as my old man finepix 3800) -- this were not him.

starsYou will LOVE this camera, if you know how to use P mode...
This is my first Fuji Camrea. I owned a Canon G2 for 5 years.

My Initial test on the camera was disppointing as I was shooting most pics in Low light condition in Auto Mode, P mode with very low ISO setting 100. I decided to return this camera.

Before returning I wanted to give it one more try with all combination of ISO and SP modes. I took lot of pics with differnt ISO setting in P mode and all Kinds of SP modes. In P mode I have got very good pics both in Low and Day light conditions.

Here is my recommended settings on P mode. In Bright Day lights Set ISO to 64. In low light conditions set ISO to 400 or 800 depending on the brightness of light. Set the Sharpness to HARD for Lowlight if you are lover of sharp pics. Also take pics by boosting the Exposure little bit if needed. Lowlight pics taken with these settings produced very less noise, vewing 100% on computer screen was not that bad at all. The Print qualtity will be still good if we stick to 6x4/5x7/8x11 size.

Get closer (4-6 Feet) to the object in Low light conditions even if you decide to use flash.

The AUTO and SP modes are not useful. The Pics taken with these modes shows lot of noise when viewing the Pic 100% on the computer.

Stick to P mode always in Day or Lowlight.

The Macro mode is very good, Excellent job done by the camera. I have shoot pics on morning dew set on the window in macro mode, I was stunned by the quality of the pics.

The Image Stabilizer worked very good.

The Face Detection works very well.

The N and N plus Flash is a very good feature on this camera.

WORTH THE MONEY. I cannot expect anything more on a NON SLR Camera.

This camera qualifies for 5 Star rating. I have given 4 Stars because the qualtiy of buttons feels very cheap plastic and the Battery door is very Flimsy. People with bigger fingers may find it diffcult to feel the buttons. The buttons on Panasonic FZ8 is very good.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED......

If Fuji used their Super CCD in this camera, it would be the best in the market.

starsExcellent Mega Zoom Camera
I had this camera during approximately a week, 4th Fuji which I had and very happy AM with all it can make. The camera is completely fast, and the different continuous one from the modes enables me not to miss the projectiles which I can have with a slower camera. The buzz 18x is much of recreation, I can really see this salutary being with my plays and executions of kids. It also seems to make well with the lighting of interior. I propose that no matter who who ownes this with the play with various arrangements because much automatic time does not give the best results. Many periods I had employed the mode of P and had lowered the OIN of CAR to 400.

starsFujFinpix S8000fd
My original intention was to buy a camera of Olympe with same the Pixel and optical buzz, however other clean cameras I use the chart of memory of standard deviation and Olympe employs the chart of XD. I upwards finished buying Finepix since it employs the chart of standard deviation as well. I think of the end that I made the good choice since Finepix has several devices Olympe not. After reading the handbook of owners I can take large photographs with the camera, even in the low one or normal light.

starsGreat camera; excellent pix!
I did much research before buying this camera. My principal conditions were photographs of high quality and an objective of buzz. I finally decided this particular camera because it looked at as I obtained much for my money, and I believe that I have. I took it on a journey in one week to receive it and took excellent scenic photographs, close-up and with the powerful buzz, almost any curve of study. I was agreeably astonished that even with all its power, the camera is not heavy and cumbersome, and its design makes it easy to be held. I also like the size of the screen and that I have the option to use the sight or the large screen. I strongly recommend this camera.

starsNo filter lens possible.
This camera does not hold account of the attachment of any objective of filter (UV, polarizer, etc.), making the camera most of the time useless unless you never employ and have any use for the objective filters. Fuji astounding allowed this straw of enormous design on a differently large camera.

starsReview of S8000FD Camera
I have had the exact same experience as J.Maxwell's commnets above. Bought this camera to replace a 4 year old HP with 8X zoom and 4MP. I like to take wildlife and bird photos. The new Fuji does an excellent job on scenery, but can not take as sharp of pictures as my old HP of birds. I actually used them side by side and there is a difference in sharpness. Fuji suggests that I can't use the zoom without a tripod, since I am moving more than the "advanced" image stabilization can handle. Yet my old HP will work decent within the 40 digital zoom range beyond the optical zoom when hand held. I actually had the oportunity of a lifetime last week to take several pictures of a Bald Eagle eating a road kill deer. The bird let me get to within 18 feet and I took many photos with this new Fuji. The photos came out OK, but not as clear as a photo of an Eagle from 18 feet should be. It was suggested that background was bad and the camera had trouble with focus. My comment was that it was a 2 foot tall large black and white object against a light brown background of the deer and soil. Something easily focused on that my old HP would have made beautiful and produced several perfect shots. The camera does do a super job on macrofocus mode (super close up).

starsVERY Pleased!
I appreciate really this ' hybrid "model. It has functions easy to use. I personally, had the great quality of photograph. All is integrated thus you cannot forget that something and I LIKE the avançée speed of obturator! ! ! This only device is good in value the price by taking the PEAKS of my daughters of baby. I am very happy with this purchase.

starsFujifilm FinePix S8000fd camera
I bought this camera like levelling to my 3.2 MP, 10x the buzz Olympe c-740. Cependant in coast at coast the comparison the quality of image was lower. The learned lesson is that more Pixel does not translate with a more pointed quality of photos. The of the optical system, probes, and mechanism of hearth are more important. Other that the disappointing quality of image I liked the camera. It has many devices, uses the batteries of aa, choice of various charts of memory at a price of occasion.

starsFujifilm S8000fd
I have had the camera for 4 days, it meets my basic needs in a digital camera.

The Good:
18x Zoom, SLR like features, 8MP, regular batteries (why? this is good for travel where you are not sure if you will be able to charge the unit, just throw in or bring more batteries and you are good to go).

If you have a limited budget this camera fits between a good subcompact with some feature of a dSLR and has an all in one lens (you cannot change lenses). Overall easy to use.

The Bad:
Picture quality is ok, not great. Some functions are slow in operation.

Buy it if you want a camera that does is all, but look at the Canon S5 IS first....also uses regular batteries.

But, if you have the cash, buy a real dSLR from Canon or Nikon and then maybe spring for a good subcompact for times when you dont need to drag a full size camera around.

My suggestion is a Nikon d40x or D80 if you want to learn how to take real pics....and then a Canon Powershot subcompact.

For $327, I cant complain about the Fujifilm S8000fd, but I expected just a little better picture quality.....the Fujifilm S700 would perhaps come very close to this camera in overall functionality and the S700 is under $200 now.

starsGreat Camera With Minor Flaws
I had the camera since the beginning of October and as a critic said, it is a question of knowing arrangements and mode of the use the "P" in opposition to the "automobile" the PEAKS of buzz and macro are fantastic for a camera if not very expensive. The handle of Nice, feels as a true camera instead of a soap bar. If you draw anything above OIN 800, you cannot be satisfied with the results but other that that, it is one gaining in my book. Obtain moreover a card reader of memory instead of employing the door of USB like one also said to him, the left door is rather fragile. Hope that they leave with an adaptor filter formerly this year, it would do it is large PEAKS better still.
