love it but there is a major flaw
I bought this camera for my married man, after its Olymp recording head (820, which I think), by me was stolen. Feeling guiltily, I wanted to buy him to something, which was similarly nevertheless updated. If I received the 1200 model, I was pleased, but its only objection was to be extended that it is not possible to regard illustrations without the camera objective. When inside, regarding by the announcement also from the rotation on the camera, since it could with its older model.If, everyone can activate this characteristic, left me to know! Otherwise I all love of the fun characteristics and the illustration quality is large! Also I am gladly that I bought the XD map, its a very cool necessary) toy. My only objection was with the post office service, supplied it both products, but by means of knocking on the door and leaving the package on the door stage and did not wait not at all, so that it answers the door. My married man head was grateful to receive the package and was not at the work, a cause there is really no explaining, if it would have been there, when I received head. Olympus Stylus 830 8MP Digital Camera with Dual Image Stabilized 5x Optical Zoom (Black) I bought this for my 17 year old daughter and she absolutely loves it! It's so nice and light. She didn't even have to read the directions to start using it. It takes terrific pictures. There isn't anything about this camera we don't like. I would highly reccomend it.


Great camera
I am by no means a tech expert, but this camera is amazing. Very small, nice colour, great features.


Nice camera
I received sand in my Olymp F.E. row camera and wished another Olymp, therefore I could use the same case, maps, etc.. This camera does everything, which I need it to and more. The characteristic "of the fast fire" is perfect for attractive animals and kids in act.....a. the occasional grownup! People are now more careful, than I have the camera out. Since the camera is steady squirting, I do not ruin epect at any time soon it.

It takes effort to represent from all existing characteristics. Like that, if you are a beginner and are not the cared technology, this is not for you. If you liked to last a quantity digital camera experience and the time, to which different shooting elections have to go, then you do finely with this. I am, in the middle of the road however believe, how I would do better, if I made photography a course, to improve in order me to help. After the largest things, which I looked for in a new camera (a Canon Elph)was had, so that red eye (it does most the time), color were acurate (this seems to be) represent work and with small children, who are I, to click and to it the illustration, when I took it..., does not receive after them its head etc. turned. This is, which is disappointed me inside. I play around some with Portrait, sport, help to etc. and it some, but I used too to turn on my camera and make myself a kid photo... must no more keys operate and it then not smooth make not the photo as fast immediately, as my Canon. We were also from the Christamas Eve, which regards lights and which most held for them, out blurry to be come and those was with compensation on. And I played with the different night characteristics, in order to see, if differentiated somehow. Gratefully I do not need to take many exterior dark illustrations, so that this is a main expenditure.

Ok so I really really LOVE Olympus, I have almost always gone in that direction. I must admit I am wondering if my delemer is because it is a point and shoot and I am asking to much, My latest cameras are Olympus E-510 and E-3. I wanted something small to carry with me when a bigger camera would cause concern. I love the Macro on this camera (830), as always Olympus has the best macro on the market, as far as I am concerned, the 4/3rds is the reason. I however didn't like the over all long shooting with the X5 zoom, I found it a bit grainy. If you don't use the x5 it was not grainy almost a given I guess with a point and shoot any one jump in here, I'm not totally sure. Over all if your looking for a small point and shot, that takes really good close ups or macro this is the camera. If your looking for a camera to shot like an slr over all, even though it may have a lot of the same settings, this camera may disappoint you. However any point and shoot may do the same thing.

I have only recently received this camera. I upgraded from the Stylus 810 which was an outstanding camera. If you are a professional photographer or like to adjust your own aperature or speed setting then this is not for you. If you are like most of the people who will buy this camera I find it difficult to beat. You can carry it easily in a shirt pocket or a purse. The 8 MP is more than enough for most point and shoot cameras. The dual stabilization makes it hard to create any picture with a blur. This is almost a must for zoom pictures and perhaps the best stabilization of any of the many cameras I have tried. It offers a close up setting and a micro close up setting. It offers 4 settings for the quality of the picture you will take (pixels). If you want a picture for ebay use the low setting with close up feature. If you want a picture of your family go for the high setting. It has to many presets to mention for such things as action, people, night scenes, etc. The camera is simplicity at its best. Even a novice should be taking pictures a few minutes out of the box. Set the built in flash to auto and forget it if you want to. All controls are clear and easy to use. If it is raining do not worry as this camera has a weather tight case. I have used the professional Nikon,s etc but for most of you this camera is all you will ever want and more. I highly recommend this camera. Two caveats and that is to buy a 1G or 2G memory card as the camera does not come with a card. Also buy an extra battery so you will always have an extra charged battery available if you take a lot of pictures. I also recommed the soft carrying case made by Olympus. I give this camera 5 stars.


Great camera
I just got this camera in the mail yesterday and I love it. It is an awesome camera with a lot of features. I turns on as soon as you push the power button and it writes the photes immediatly. The pictures are very clear and very sharp. I testing it at night by taking pictures of my room with all the lights out. The pictures came out as if I had taken them in the day time.

I read another review somewhere that the video camera doesn't have sound--well, it does have sound, at least mine does.

I do have to admit, that the battery didn't last very long, but then again, I never charged it before the first use and the battery only comes half charged.

I bought a M type 2GB media card to go with it and it works perfectly with this camera.

I got the Camera in green (beautiful color).

If I had to do it over again, I would get the same camera.


Nice product but pricey
I love the characteristics, particularly the picture compensation. They must love the compensation, or you should buy the 820 for smaller much, which $$.>I played at best with that purchase 820 and which 830 makes a sharper photo, particularly on full zoom shot. Directed the downward is that the camera uses battery performance up rather fast, thus you a spare battery buys to wish can. The camera does not come in with a coded map at all thus at the plan on receiving, and a case is a good idea also.
